ROCKY’S PUBLISHED FOSTER-FAMILY ACCOUNT

Bite history and introductions

Rocky entered an LA shelter after a reported bite in his previous home, described as a single puncture. The circumstances of that bite are unknown.

During an indoor introduction in his foster home, he bit a visitor’s ankle, causing bruising and two small punctures. His foster family learned he needs slow introductions to new people, beginning outside on a walk with space and time to build trust. Future introductions should be coordinated with the rescue.

When overwhelmed, Rocky can become difficult to control and nip his handler. He wears a muzzle as an added safety measure. His foster family reports that these moments have been infrequent with careful management. His adopter should recognize when he is overwhelmed, give him space, and work with a trainer to adjust the pace.

He needs an active, experienced adopter in an adult-only home where he can be the only pet to start, with ongoing training. Compatibility with other dogs, cats, and children has not been established.

A CAREFUL MATCH

How adoption begins

Talk with the rescue about Rocky’s needs and your household. Its published process includes an application, interview, signed contract, then fee and placement arrangements.

His published foster update proposes an outdoor meeting and discussion of a one-week home trial, subject to rescue approval. Ask about the arrangements, his routine and his trainer before deciding.

Before you decide, ask about the current fee, recent health records, where you would meet the dog, and ongoing support.
